The Ponderosa Cabin offers a rustic setting with vintage charm, along with modern amenities. After spending the day at nearby Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks, enjoy cocktails on the spacious deck, a hot shower in the clawfoot tub, games by the fireplace (knockoff game of Twister anyone?). Or just read and relax in the main bedroom downstairs or upstairs bedroom. The Ponderosa Cabin has gorgeous interior walls of knotty pine. And yes, there's Internet--when you need it. You’ll find a well-equipped kitchen and plenty of room in the cabin for up to 4 guests.
Our cabin, fondly named after the beautiful Ponderosa pine tree with golden bark, is nestled in a quiet setting. You may see wild turkeys up the hill in the morning or deer grazing at dusk at certain times of the year. At higher elevation in the National Parks you’ll find Ponderosa pines growing alongside giant Sequoias. It's a 20 minute drive to the entrance of Kings Canyon (Big Stump entrance) along Hwy 180. This is the best of all worlds: you have a gateway to the National Parks and a private setting in the woods. If you like the mountains, this is your retreat.
If there is snow at higher elevations in the winter or early spring, tire chains could be required in the National Parks and on Hwy 180. Kings Canyon National Park is at 6000+ ft. elevation; it may be clear at the cabin but you could encounter snow as you head up into higher elevations.
Please remember this is not a hotel. Access to parks is convenient but local roads are narrow. Note there's an unpaved road for a quarter mile leading to the cabin. There are no grocery stores or banks near the cabin, although there's a restaurant in walking distance. (Grant Grove Village in Kings Canyon NP is 30 minutes away by car, and there are gas stations, convenience stores and restaurants along Hwy 180.)
