Under renovation
The hotel is currently being renovated, so the reception is a bit of a make-shift affair in the breakfast room. Toast and hot breakfast the English way cooked at your request, preserves and cereals, milk, yoghurt and apple/orange juice provided on a table. No staff visible apart from the combined breakfast waitress/receptionist who was otherwise pleasant enough, we were provided however with the details of a person who would be on the premises later in the evening/throughout the night in case we should need anything. We never saw this character even as we let ourselves in through the balcony door late at night. Very pleasant rooms in nice rural surroundings (who knew cows from a distance sound exactly like the buzzing of a vibrating phone?), recently renovated bathrooms, sadly abysmal water pressure in the shower, you might be better off taking a bath if you wish to actually get some water on your skin, 'twas but a mere trickle. Also you might bang your head if you're 6ft+ and trying to stand upright in the shower. There's one quite steep hill up to the centre of Ludlow, but it's otherwise a very pretty walk through a picturesque landscape. Apart from the eerie lack of staff a very pleasant stay.
