OTHER DETAILS TO NOTE
Lazy Days Cabin is located on the edge of a small cabin community one half mile north of Kanopolis Lake. Opened in 1948, the 3,500-acre reservoir offers fishing, boating, and swimming. Refer to ksoutdoors.com for all the rules and regulations around the lake. Beginning in 2022 Hart Marina now has a pontoon boat, Sea-Doo personal watercraft, kayaks and a golf cart available for rent. For more details and reservations visit hartmarina.com. (The marina is closed from November - mid-March.)
Surrounding the lake is a 12,500-acre wildlife area with opportunities for hunting and more than 30 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and ATV’s. Explore sandstone bluffs and the caves and crevices of Horsethief Canyon, and you will be rewarded with stunning views of the Smoky Hills’ rugged beauty. Kanopolis State Park was the first state park in Kansas, and the Army Corps of Engineers operates two federal parks at the lake. North of the lake is Mushroom State Park, a picnic area with unusual geological formations. The Kansas Motorcycle Museum in Marquette, the Fort Harker Guard House Museum in Kanopolis, and shopping and art showcasing Lindsborg’s Swedish heritage are all within a half hour’s drive.
Our backyard neighbors are totally off-grid...how cool is that! They use small wind-powered generators for electricity, so do know that this system is next-door and is doing its part to create Earth friendly electricity for them.
We love our dogs and know you love yours too. Please let us know if you have a furry traveler with you so we can accommodate. There will be a $25 pet fee added.
During the winter months, we understand that weather plays an important part in vacation travel plans. If inclement weather hits and you are unable to get to the cabin or need to leave early because of weather, we will work with you on your reservation fees. We have provided a snow shovel and ice melt for guests to use as needed. Before your arrival, we will strive to have cleared walkways for you. If large amounts of snow would fall during your stay, a local neighbor is willing to come open up the driveway for guests. In the past few years, Kansas hasn't gotten much snow during the winter, but we have plans in place for our guests just in case we do get accumulated amounts.
We hope you book a stay and enjoy a getaway in our cabin!
