There are not enough words to describe our time at the Castle. I first need to begin with our hosts. Valentina is the owner who takes such pride in her heritage. She welcomed us and took us on a tour of her lovely Castle while telling us the history/current status of the town and the Castle. Primal, is great at everything: cooking, cleaning, checking in to see if we need anything and of course filling us in on the beautiful waterfall and it’s secrets. Monica, is truly amazing! She very much enjoys her job (not sure she would call it that). She is the ultimate concierge for those wanting that, but to us she became part of our family and will be truly missed by all. If any one of the 18 people in our family was interested in doing something she was right there to research, organize and ensure that by the end of our day we were all laughing, smiling and sharing about that days experience. One specific example is our trip to Florence, we were short a car and taxis were on strike. She offered to drive a few of us into town and made sure we were able to make our tour of the Duomo. This would not have been possible had she not driven some. And she made us feel (every time), that she had no place else to be except with us making sure all went well.
Primal, Simona and Monica hosted several special dinners for us, each with special requests such as a piano /singer, home made tiramisu and magnum bottles….all pulled off without a problem.
Now, about the property which y’all want to hear about…WOW!! Beautiful, authentic Castle rooms for several of us. Spacious, kitchenettes included, and wonderful views. The farmhouse apartments next to us, also well appointed and the courtyard outside was our meeting place to hear everyone’s story of the day. Fresh towels provided, fridge stocked with cold water and a few sodas. You don’t need to bring pool towels and an on-site, self service washer/dryer available for those staying for a long period of time.
Impruneta is the perfect “in between” village; not too big, not too small, and with the best gelato in Tuscany! One can find live music in the village square in the evenings which was a plus as well.
There wasn’t a downside to this stay with the exception that we had to leave.
And truly, our visit would not have been the same without the folks above and I thank them deeply.
Ciao
