«Location is beautiful but inconvenient as there are no restaurants close by or convenient stores. There were many different types of smells, all unpleasant, as you walk into reception, the bathroom, the hallway and your room. The pillows were made of wheat and were incredibly small and uncomfortable. The futon beds made you itchy and were quite thin. «Very comfortable stay at this newer hotel. We were originally booked in a room with no private bath (must use communal onsen on the top floor for bathing) unbeknownst to us, because the room description was lacking. Our request to change rooms was fortunately accommodated. Overall this hotel occupies a remote and lovely natural setting -- best viewed from the indoor/outdoor onsens on the top floor. The place is at the top of a mountain with a beautiful scenery. The place is mostly for ski resort, but I used it to go around the area and visit some local attractions.»

There were no full sized bath towels provided, just the little Japanese onsen towel which is difficult to dry off with. «The rooms were excellent, the craftsmanship excellent, the ambience excellent, Service was excellent. The only thing I would recommend, especially if it’s a last minute reservation, work with the owners on transportation. If you want to stay out late in Nozawa, they will work with you, but it’s hard to get a taxi back, especially on the weekends later at night. You might have to end up walking haha 😂»
