We really appreciated and enjoyed the view from the living room and deck. Therefore, I am sorry to write such a negative review, but we have stayed in many places, both with economy rates and high-end rates, and have never experienced such an ill equipped accommodation.
We first saw this house online, the price was half what we ended up paying for one week in July. We looked at the photos and realized that the furniture was old and shabby, but the price was reasonable and we were willing to overlook what we saw. When we booked a reservation for the second week of July, the price had doubled! We were unable to find another rental and decided to settle for this one and make do. However, we were not prepared for the fact that it is very poorly equipped house.
There was not a single box of Kleenex (tissue) in the entire house. We have never stayed in any kind of accommodation that was not supplied with tissue! Luckily, we had a box in the car.
The bathrooms had no washcloths or hand towels. We searched and finally found two washcloths tucked away in a cupboard. This house ostensibly seeks sleeps 6 people, so there should be at least 6 washcloths and hand towels. (When we were checking out at the end of the week, we loaded towels into the washer as directed by the instructions, and at that time we found the dryer full of towels.)
Before listing the inadequacies, I want to start with two maintenance issues:
1) The lowest of the railroad tie steps leading up to the front door is badly out of place and needs to be reset. It is dangerous.
2) The toilet in the downstairs bathroom runs continuously unless adjusted after each flush. If we had not been conscientious enough to wait around and make sure that the toilet stopped, there would be a great waste of water. The upstairs toilet usually needs an extra flush.
No soap for the showers.
No shampoo, but there were two large bottles of conditioner in the downstairs bath!
No plastic wrap for making lunches, no liquid dish soap in the dispenser at the sink. The old dishwasher pellets are hard as rocks. The refrigerator reeks of garlic and the baking soda for odor removal is very old. The beds are saggy and the ancient, decrepit pillows are a disgrace for any price rental. We are asking for a 50% refund and 50% of the applicable bed tax.
Thank you for your attention.
