I chose this hotel for its proximity to Penang Adventist Hospital (5 minutes' walk) so I was more or less prepared for the shortcomings.
This property is run down and offers basic amenities.
No empty mini bar, phone or bottled water in room, but the reception is staffed even at night so that's a plus. There's a water dispenser and soft drinks for sale near the reception.
I had the 'Romantic' room. There was what looked like a lump of hair and chewing gum the size of a 5 cent coin, stuck to the shower floor. I couldn't remove it - it looked like it'd been stuck there for eons and it really grossed me out every time I used the bathroom!
After my first request the day after check in for help to remove it (via reception), nothing was done, so I left it alone, as my stay was just 4 nights
The bathroom presented all the challenges, besides the unwanted permanent floor 'decoration'.
The shower area had no curtain so after a shower, the toiket, toilet roll, the whole floor plus a bit of the bedroom's side was wet wet wet. I made daily requests for changes of 2 floor mats (1 was for wiping the floor only).
On the service, the staff were all friendly - Afekah (sp?) and Hashim were polite and responsive, provided accurate directions when requested. They were the plus point of this stay.
