Explore 66, mostly wooded, acres with a stocked catfish pond, two zip-lines, a hot tub and some amazing views of rural Floyd along our private trails. Our wooded property gives each cabin a secluded feel with nature views from every window as well as two mountain lookout spots just a short hike away. The center of town (Floyd) is an 11 mile scenic drive. The Blue Ridge Terrace is a private entrance upstairs cabin located above my husband’s wood shop. This unit is separate from our home located 20 yards away. The views from the windows are of the forest and pond.
Bring your fishing poles and some chicken livers when the weather is warm, and you are almost guaranteed to catch a catfish! Please modify your hooks for catch and release only (we can show you how).
Cell coverage is an issue throughout Floyd. We have installed a cell signal amplifier on the cabin and have great cell and data service from the nearest Verizon tower (several carriers use this network). Others may be iffy. We have the best internet plan available in Floyd County (new fiberoptic cable upgrade). This doesn't mean we can control system outages, but we will call the provider and keep you informed if there is an issue.
Power outages happen a few times a year; usually when we have big snow storms (late Jan- early Mar). They normally last a few hours. For overnight outages we can offer a generator to run heat and the fridge along with candles, or the option of a refund.
During late fall/winter hunting season, you may encounter a deer being dressed from the deer hanger, or fish being cleaned in the catfish shack during summer. There will occasionally be a tractor or two running during the day. Wear something orange (two vests are provided during hunting seasons) while exploring close to the property line at the top of the mountain during the first and last hours of daylight. We will notify you the day before if my husband or father-in-law (experienced hunters) plan to be in the woods.
We welcome all walks of life here, including dogs who get along well with other animals. Our dog, Silas, runs free and may try to follow you on your hikes. Just let us know if he is a pest. We look forward to meeting you and yours!
